Verdict. Pick Payhip if you want a real store with courses, memberships and coupons without paying for features you might need later. The free plan has everything, and 5% is half of Gumroad's rate. Payhip now also handles US and Canadian sales tax on top of EU and UK VAT. The main catch is that the fee tiers only pay off at volume. Plus beats Free above about $967 a month.

Payhip pricing and fees

Payhip takes 5% of sales on the free plan, 2% on Plus at $29 a month and 0% on Pro at $99 a month, plus Stripe or PayPal processing.

Payhip plans
PlanPriceFee on salesNotes
Free Forever$0/mo5% of salesAll features, unlimited products, unlimited revenue.
Plus$29/mo2% of salesSame features as Free. No annual price listed.
Pro$99/mo0% of salesSame features as Free. No annual price listed.

On $1,000 of monthly sales at $10 each, the cheapest option is the Plus plan. You'd pay about $108 in platform and card fees, 10.8% of revenue, and keep $892. Compare that with every other platform.

Payment processing. Your own Stripe, PayPal or one of 11 regional gateways such as Razorpay, Mollie and Paystack, paid on top on every plan. Payhip quotes Stripe at 2.9% + 30¢ per transaction.

Payouts. Each sale goes straight to your connected Stripe, PayPal or other gateway account at the moment of purchase. Payhip holds nothing, and you withdraw to your bank on that processor's schedule.

Payhip pros and cons

What we like

  • Every plan has every feature, so you only pay to lower the fee.
  • Payhip handles EU and UK VAT, and US and Canadian sales tax since July 2026, at no charge.
  • Money goes to your own Stripe or PayPal account when the buyer pays.
  • Marketplace sales carry no extra fee beyond your plan's rate.
  • Customer CSV export and a custom domain work on the free plan.

What gets in the way

  • 5% on the free plan adds up, $50 on every $1,000 of sales.
  • No annual discount on the pricing page.
  • The marketplace lists only digital products, after a review that can take 10 days.
  • Stripe or PayPal processing still applies on top of every plan.
  • Quebec QST stays your job even after the 2026 Canadian tax change.

Payhip questions

How much does Payhip take per sale?

Payhip takes 5% of each sale on the Free Forever plan, 2% on Plus at $29 a month and nothing on Pro at $99 a month. Stripe or PayPal processing comes on top on every plan, and Payhip quotes Stripe's standard rate at 2.9% + 30¢ per transaction.

Which Payhip plan should I pick?

Stay on Free until you sell about $967 a month, where Plus at $29 plus 2% becomes cheaper than paying 5%. Pro at $99 beats Plus once monthly sales pass $3,500. Every plan has the same features, so the choice comes down to fees alone.

Does Payhip handle sales tax and VAT?

Yes. Payhip collects and remits digital EU and UK VAT, and since July 1, 2026 it also handles US sales tax and Canadian GST, HST and PST at no extra cost. Quebec's QST stays your responsibility if it applies to you.

When does Payhip pay out?

Payhip does not hold your money. Each sale goes straight to your connected Stripe, PayPal or other gateway account at the moment of purchase. You then withdraw to your bank on that processor's schedule, so timing depends on Stripe or PayPal rather than Payhip.
